The governing body of the VILLAGE OF SURFSIDE BEACH has proposed for adoption a tax rate of $0.359506 per $100 valuation. This rate exceeds the lower of the effective or rollback tax rate, and state law requires that the governing body hold two (2) public hearings before adopting the proposed tax rate.
The governing body of the VILLAGE OF SURFSIDE BEACH proposes to use revenue attributable to the tax rate increase for the purpose of providing a competitive wage to city employees and to help maintain village equipment.
The effective tax rate is the total tax rate needed to raise the same amount of property tax revenue for the VILLAGE OF SURFSIDE BEACH from the same properties in both the 2016 and 2017 tax years.
The rollback tax rate is the highest tax rate that the VILLAGE OF SURFSIDE BEACH may adopt before voters are entitled to petition for an election to limit the rate that the governing body may approve to the rollback rate.
YOU CAN CALCULATE YOUR OWED TAXES UNDER ANY OF THE ABOVE RATES AS FOLLOWS:
property tax amount = (rate) x (taxable value of your property) / 100
